Learn about the Intracept Procedure in Lancaster, California

March 26, 2024

AVORS Medical Group, Dr. Thomas Nasser, offers "New Hope" in the Lancaster, California with the  Intracept Procedure.

For those with chronic back pain,

new minimally invasive “Intracept” procedure

can provide lasting pain relief

One potential cause of chronic (longer than 6 weeks) low back pain may be tied to the basivertebral nerve. The basivertebral nerve is actually found within the vertebral bone in the low back.  The Intracept Procedure is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure for patients with vertebrogenic pain. The procedure targets a specific nerve within the vertebra called the basivertebral nerve and has been shown to improve function and relieve pain long-term. The procedure is implant-free, preserving future treatment options for other spine conditions.

With the Intracept procedure, the physician makes a 3mm to 5mm incision in the low back and a radiofrequency probe is then inserted to access the center of the vertebrae at the trunk of the basivertebral nerve. Heat is applied through the probe desensitizing the nerve making it unable to transmit a pain signal.

Dr. Thomas Nasser is a leading Pain Management and Doctor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Nasser is also the Medical Director at Palmdale Regional Medical Center Acute Rehabilitation Institute, Embassy Surgery Center, and Antelope Valley Care Center. Dr. Thomas Nasser has been treating vertebrogenic pain for over seventeen (17) years.

Dr. Nasser treats “the whole person” not just the symptoms. By evaluating the impact of a condition on the person as a whole (medically, socially, emotionally and vocationally), he helps his patients understand and take control of their health.

“The most important consideration is what the patient expresses/tells us — that’s essentially what we go off of,” Dr. Nasser says. But Dr. Nasser also takes into account what additional materials that shed light, such as labs, reports, electrodiagnostics, imaging studies, etc.

“We take care of people, not pictures.” ~ Dr. Nasser

One procedure that has high clinical success in helping patients suffering from vertebrogenic pain.

We will personally tailor a Pain Management Program, specifically targeted to your needs, using the least invasive yet highly-effective techniques and services.
