AVORS Medical Group Welcomes Fellowship-Trained Shoulder & Elbow Specialist Dr. Kofi Agyeman to the Antelope Valley
Lancaster, CA — 12/01/2025 – AVORS Medical Group is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Kofi Agyeman, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow procedures, to its team of leading orthopedic experts serving the Antelope Valley and surrounding communities. According to AVORS Medical Group CEO, Joseph Hurley, “AVORS Medical Group feels privileged to provide our residents in the Antelope Valley and surrounding areas with a truly patient minded and compassionate provider. We know that patients have the right to choose who they see and to seek providers who listen, treat the whole person, and help them feel heard. Dr. Agyeman has a focus for creating a truly patient centered experience not just with quality of care but with innovation, technology and common sense.”

Dr. Agyeman earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Miami, and pursued advanced fellowship training at the University of Washington, where he focused on complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction techniques. His expertise includes treating rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, elbow injuries, fractures, and degenerative joint conditions through both surgical and non-surgical approaches.

AVORS Medical Group focuses on treating shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and fracture conditions with a delivery model built around efficiency, access, and simplicity. “Members of our community shouldn’t have to drive an hour and a half to Greater Los Angeles for specialized orthopedic care,” said AVORS CEO Joseph Hurley. “By bringing fellowship-trained specialists like Dr. Agyeman to the Antelope Valley, we make advanced care accessible right where our patients live.”

Shoulder or arm pain can prevent Californians from enjoying the activities they love—walking, surfing, hiking, kayaking, dancing, and living life to the fullest. Many who suffer from joint pain feel they have a poor quality of life, but they don’t have to feel this way anymore. Dr. Agyeman’s advanced training and patient-first approach are designed to restore function, reduce pain, and help patients return to the activities that matter most.

As a fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow surgeon, Dr. Agyeman’s practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of injuries and conditions. He specializes in shoulder and elbow replacement surgery, shoulder instability repair, rotator cuff repair procedures, and fracture care. This advanced training ensures patients receive the highest level of expertise for even the most complex cases.

Dr. Agyeman shares his philosophy: “I believe technology should make care more personal, not less. My goal is to blend surgical excellence with smarter, simpler systems that give patients time, comfort, and confidence.”

Dr. Agyeman will be accepting new patients and most major insurance plans starting in January 2026. He will see patients at AVORS Medical Group’s Lancaster office located at 42135 10th St W, Suite 101, Lancaster, CA 93534.  New patients can call AVORS Medical Group at 661-726-5005 to schedule appointments starting in January 2026.

AVORS Medical Group strives to bring excellent care to the entire Antelope Valley. Our mission is to provide world-class orthopedic care close to home, eliminating the need for long drives to Greater Los Angeles. By recruiting highly qualified surgeons like Dr. Agyeman, we ensure our community has access to advanced treatment options right here where they live.

Surgery is often a critical step toward recovery—but what happens before and after the procedure can be just as important. At AVORS Medical Group in Lancaster, CA, Dr. Tony Smith , a Board Certified Doctor of Chiropractic and Physiotherapy Rehabilitation, offers comprehensive Pre & Post Surgical Rehabilitation programs designed to optimize healing, restore function, and get patients back to living life fully. Why Pre & Post Surgical Rehab Matters Surgical procedures—whether orthopedic, spinal, or soft tissue—place significant stress on the body. Without proper preparation and recovery, patients may face: Prolonged healing times Muscle atrophy and joint stiffness Reduced mobility and strength Increased risk of re-injury Dr. Smith emphasizes, “Rehabilitation isn’t just about recovery—it’s about preparing the body to heal better and faster, and ensuring long-term success after surgery.” Pre-Surgical Rehabilitation (Prehab) Before surgery, Dr. Smith works with patients to: Strengthen surrounding muscles to support the surgical site Improve joint mobility and flexibility Educate patients on post-surgical expectations and exercises Reduce inflammation and pain to improve surgical outcomes This proactive approach can lead to shorter hospital stays, fewer complications, and a faster return to normal activities.
