May 11, 2023

Palmdale Regional Medical Center now part of Southwest Healthcare has appointed AVORS Medical Group Trauma Foot and Ankle Surgeon as the New Medical Director of Limb Salvage Program.

Antelope Valley Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Specialists (AVORS) Medical Group is pleased to announce Dr. Kyle Hopkins as the new Medical Director  for the Limb Salvage Program at Palmdale Regional Medical Center now part of Southwest Healthcare.

Dr. Hopkins will responsible for building a Limb salvage program within Palmdale Regional's team in an approach designed to prevent amputation. The primary goal of limb salvage is to restore or improve function in the traumatized limb and facilitate the return to normal life.   He will coordinate hospital wide efforts with a team. This program at Palmdale Regional lead by Dr. Hopkins offers the community with a unique, interdisciplinary team to evaluate alternative treatments for patients scheduled for amputation. This comprehensive team is comprised of vascular surgeons, endovascular interventionalists, vascular medicine specialists, podiatrists and wound care experts – often including multiple physicians within the same specialty to ensure that different points of view are considered. This professional collaboration often leads to more potential treatment options to avoid amputation.

Dr. Hopkins is a Board Certified Podiatrist specializing in foot trauma and fracture care, podiatric surgery, sports medicine, wound care, and regenerative medicine. He works in the hospital on all foot traumas, as well as in his community clinic prescribing orthotics to help peoples feet, performing nail surgery, sports medicine and injury, and diabetic care.

"I am excited to be able to help build a program in partnership with Palmdale Regional Medical Center.  We are creating a specific goal in preventing amputations and offering hope combined with cutting edge technology to prevent amputations or hospitalizations.  Our goal is to provide improved limb preservation to everyone in the Antelope Valley" Said Dr. Kyle Hopkins.

AVORS Medical Group CEO Joseph Hurley Commented also "The program focuses on prevention and early intervention to heal conditions affecting the legs, feet and toes and help prevent the loss of a limb. This is a huge win for the entire Antelope Valley and enables patients to get the highest quality care right here locally."
